Pokémon Announces Pokémon TCG Animated Series

The Pokémon Company has unveiled plans for a new animted series centered around real-world Pokémon card gameplay, alongside an online anime series based on the Scarlet and Violet games.

Introduced during the August Pokémon Presents event, “Pokémon: Path to the Peak” is a “short animated series” that follows a young girl’s journey. She joins a Pokémon card club at her school and eventually rises to the pinnacle of success in the world of Pokémon card playing.

The premiere of the first episode is scheduled for August 11 at the Pokémon World Championships, held at the Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall. It’s unclear whether the episode will be available online on the same day.

Andy Gose, Senior Director of Media Production, described the series as, “Pokémon: Path to the Peak is a tale that brings the Pokémon Trading Card Game to life as you’ve never seen before.”

“Set in the compelling world of competitive Pokémon Trading Card Game play, it’s the story of our hero Ava who discovers her natural talent alongside her partner Pokémon Oddish.”

A brief teaser for the show depicted Ava moving to a new town and joining a Pokémon card club, engaging in card battles with newfound companions.

Additionally, The Pokémon Company also revealed “Pokémon: Paldean Winds,” an upcoming online animated web series set to stream on its YouTube channel. The show portrays the coming-of-age experiences of academy students, capturing their growth and learning as they attend school.

This news wasn’t the sole update related to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet during the event. The release date for the games’ first major expansion, “The Teal Mask,” was also disclosed for September.

Furthermore, an event featuring Mew and Mewtwo was announced, alongside the integration of Scarlet and Violet Pokémon into Pokémon Go, the introduction of two Pokémon games to Nintendo Switch Online, and other revelations.
