Baldur’s Gate III becomes the 2nd biggest Steam launch of 2023

Baldur’s Gate 3 has made an impressive debut on both Steam and Twitch. The highly-anticipated RPG developed by Larian Studios was recently fully released (from it’s early access stage since October 2020), and it immediately gained traction. It peaked at an impressive 308,000 concurrent players on Steam on its first day and has since climbed even further to reach 400,000+ concurrent players. This is a remarkable achievement for a hardcore RPG that was initially not receiving much attention from the mainstream gaming community during its early access phase.

Likewise, on Twitch, the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to shine, attracting around 480,000 viewers. This achievement can be attributed in part to the strong support it has received from notable streamers like CohhCarnage and sodapoppin, who have been actively showcasing the game to their audiences. Their involvement has significantly contributed to the game’s popularity and viewership on the platform.

A great start for Baldur’s Gate III

Baldur’s Gate 3 has enjoyed a robust beginning, and its initial success can be partially attributed to the intriguing romantic options, including the ability to romance a bear (or a Druid in bear form). This unique feature sparked significant interest among gamers and drove the game up Steam’s best-sellers list, making it one of the most talked-about releases of the summer. Larian Studios’ decision to advance the PC release also provided a clear release window, further contributing to the game’s strong start.

The excitement surrounding Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t seem to be slowing down. As it is currently almost the weekend for us Malaysians, there is an expectation that we can join in and explore the game soon! However, the game’s high demand caused some issues on Steam, exacerbated by the inability to pre-load the game.
