Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be 5 times shorter than Valhalla.

Ubisoft has officially announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will offer a shorter gameplay experience, providing some relief to gamers during the busy month of October.

Undoubtedly, the news of Assassin’s Creed Mirage being a shorter game is a relief for many, especially with the crowded October 2023 videogame release schedule. Unlike previous RPG entries in the series, this stealth game will offer a more concise experience. However, there’s still some concern about the specific release date of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which falls within a busy gaming period.

French videogame YouTuber Julien Chièze recently had the opportunity to interview Ubisoft lead producer Fabian Salomon, where they delved into details about Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Salomon discussed various aspects of the game, including the setting of Baghdad, the protagonist Basim, and also shared insights into the average internal playtimes for players. Thankfully, Assassin’s Creed Mirage won’t be a 100-hour epic, and interested listeners can catch Salomon’s discussion on the game’s average run times in the interview video, starting at the 17:04 mark.

However as the interview is in French, we have also transcribed the following below:

YouTube video

“Given that we do a lot of playtesting internally at Ubisoft, it’s part of our process, we really want to get as close as possible to the players, so we’ll say that the latest playtimes we’ve received average at around 20-23 hours,”

Salomon followed up with that with, “That can go up to 25-30 hours for the completionists, and we’ll say that those who will be rushing the game will be around 20 hours.”

The news of Assassin’s Creed Mirage being shorter is certainly exciting for many players, especially considering that the previous game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, took around 60 hours to complete and 143 hours for completionists (source: HowLongToBeat). Odyssey also had similar playtimes. With Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s reduced length, players will now be able to fully complete it almost five times in the same amount of time it takes to beat Valhalla just once.

Considering the plethora of games that feature an expansive open world while boasting hours upon hours of playtime, having a short and curated experience will be a breath of fresh air from Ubisoft (I’m looking at you Valhalla). We over here at Gamers Hideout can’t wait for this upcoming Assassin’s Creed game, and you can expect to get the game when it releases on the 12th October 2023!
