SD 鋼彈 激鬥同盟》集結來自《機動戰士鋼彈》系列各種 MS 及角色，是一款跨越各作品世界觀共演的新型態 SD 鋼彈動作 RPG 作品。遊戲敘述《鋼彈》故事因名為「破史」的現象而被扭曲，展開與原作不同的世界。為了修正這世界的虛假故事，玩家將擔任小隊長，率領 3 架機體所組成的 1 個共同戰線小隊，與各種 MS 及駕駛員一同挑戰任務。然而，在虛假歷史的盡頭等待著眾人的是......

玩家屆時可以與 2 架僚機一同出擊，挑戰各種任務。在多人遊玩時，可與 2 名好友合作，3 人一同奔馳戰場。遊戲中可自由運用 MS 的多種武裝攻擊敵方機體，展現爽快連擊動作。並且能夠親手操控外觀因在戰場活動而呈現舊化，動作卻依然充滿魄力的 MS。
